obraz nr 4 There are many types of vacuum pumps. Positive displacement pumps are mainly used in suction-pressure vehicles.
A common feature of all positive displacement machines is the enclosed (closed) work space, the size of which changes cyclically during the working cycle.
The displacement pressure pump's working cycle is divided into three phases: Suction, transport (compression) and ejection. The suction and ejection phase is referred to as low pressure (ND-) and high pressure (HD-) load exchange. In the case of positive displacement pumps, the gas contained in the liquid enters the working space created by pistons, impellers and blades, the working space closes, the gas is possibly compacted and then pushed out. Mechanical components inside wet-running pumps are sealed with liquid, usually oil.
In the case of a ring pump, water is also used as a sealant.
However, in recent years there has been a trend to construct dry running machines in which auxiliary fluids are dispensed with in the workspace. This avoids contamination of the working medium. In addition, there is a low maintenance cost and no costs are incurred for the disposal of auxiliary liquids. This technique is mainly used for diaphragm pumps, pumps with disc valves and pumps with rotary piston, and more recently in scroll pumps, most often they are used for creating low and high vacuum.

obraz nr 5 The cylindrical housing also has a cylindrical body - the rotor. It is centrally ordered. The blades placed in the longitudinal grooves of the rotor slip when the rotor rotates and, by centrifugal force, these sliders are positioned against the wall of the housing.
The blades divide the sickle working space into cells that change their size as the rotor rotates. At the same time, the volume of the cells on the suction side becomes larger and the air is sucked in through the vacuum created. On the pressure side, the volume of the cells decreases so that the enclosed air is concentrated and pushed out.
Due to the mechanical contact of the blades with the inner wall, the pump with the bladed rotor undergoes greater abrasion, therefore lubrication is required.

Water jacket suction pumps

The lightweight cylindrical housing is eccentrically located on the shaft with a curved or radial blade. This housing is filled with water almost half way.
If the shaft is driven, the rotor rotates and, due to centrifugal force, forms in the housing concentrically, but in relation to the rotor, an eccentrically moving water ring.
The impeller and the water ring now form air chambers that change their size due to the eccentricity of rotation. On the suction side, the chambers increase evenly so that air is drawn in through the suction gap. On the pressure side, the air is compressed in shrinking chambers and forced out through the pressure gap.

Because there is no mechanical contact, the water ring pump has a low abrasion. Lubrication is also not required, however, the used air does not contain oil. In addition, the water ring pump runs very quietly so that it does not require sound attenuation.
The disadvantage is the higher weight due to water filling, as well as the fact that when working in winter, antifreeze should be used regularly.
